On March 17, the Central and East European Coalition (CEEC) sent a letter to House leadership asking for support in reintroducing the Transatlantic Telecommunications Security Act.

In the letter, the CEEC urges action by the United States to counter Russian and Chinese malign influence with a “robust U.S. response and diplomatic strategy and U.S. national security financing to enable the development of secure 5G telecommunications with our allies in Central and East Europe.”

The TTSA was first introduced in December 2020 during the previous Session of Congress by Representatives Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), both members of the House Baltic Caucus.

The letter, sent to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and Chairmen and Ranking Members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber was signed on behalf of the CEEC by Michael Sawkiw of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and Karl Altau of the Joint Baltic American National Committee.
