The Joint Baltic American National Committee (JBANC) will be hosting its 8th annual Baltic Advocacy Days in Washington D.C. from March 31 to April 2. This year’s advocacy days will include meetings with congressional offices as well as events including a welcome reception, Baltic Caucus Night event, and a Baltic Happy Hour.
Participants of Baltic Advocacy Days will typically have two-three meetings with their congressional offices. Each meeting usually lasts 20 to 30 minutes with the goal being to communicate the concerns of the Baltic American community as well as advocating for legislation that helps to build the U.S.-Baltic relationship, such as the Baltic Security Initiative. No prior experience is necessary. JBANC will be hosting a virtual preview and briefing of Baltic Advocacy Days on March 25, to ensure all participants are informed about engaging with congressional offices and understand policy asks. Most meetings will take place on April 1, with remaining meetings being arranged on April 2.
Besides meetings with Congress, participants can also attend a panel discussion at the Hudson Institute on Monday, March 31, from 3:00 -5:00 pm, as well as a Welcome Reception at 6:00 pm at the Estonian Embassy.
On April 1, JBANC will be hosting a Baltic Caucus Night from 6-8pm, connecting Baltic Americans, congressional offices, and friends of the Baltics. The event will feature a performance by the New York Latvian Concert Choir. Finally, to conclude Baltic Advocacy Days, there will be a Baltic Happy Hour from 5:30 – 8:00 pm on April 2 at St. Arnold’s Mussel Bar.
We encourage all Baltic Americans and friends of the Baltics to join us in Washington D.C!
